As predicted by many, the “Lost And Found” Air Jordan 1 “Chicago” put the sneaker world in a frenzy this past weekend. From cancelled Nike/Finishline orders, sketchy in-store raffles/reservations, to a botched SNKRS draw, many of the storylines surrounding the release weren’t positive. Even with all those things being true, I’d be remiss if I didn’t at least say congratulations to everyone (excluding botters lol) that caught a dub. In my opinion, this was the shoe of 2022 in more ways than one. Not only is the shoe legit from a design and creative standpoint, but the storytelling and marketing concepts deployed for the release were nothing short of incredible. The idea of the shoes being recovered from the dusty corners of an old mom and pop store seemed authentic and heightened the appeal and experience of purchasing and already iconic silhouette and OG colorway. Great job, Jordan Brand! In hand, all of the pre-aged nuances were executed to perfection from my vantage point, with the yellowed tongue being my favorite design tweak that paired well with the semi-yellowed midsole. The packaging was equally impressive, with the mix-matched box and lid combo being an especially nice touch. After a YouTube binge I was made aware of the easter eggs found on the replica receipt, but this was another example of Nike/Jordan Brand going the extra mile for this release.
