Inkay and Malamar, hailing from the Kalos region, and you can catch them alongside many other Psychic-type Pokémon during the Psychic Spectacular event. Inkay was previously mentioned in previous Pokémon Go datamines in recent months, but this Pokémon is now official. You'll be able to catch it in the wild during the limited-time event, and once it's over you can expect to have a hard time finding it in raids. The blog post also specifies that Inkay will only be able to evolve into Malamar under specific circumstances. This will likely be similar to the original Pokémon games, where players had to flip their handheld device to make it evolve. Players will likely have to do something similar here to get Malamar out, along with the required candy. During the Psychic Spectacular event, Staryu, Chimecho, Bronzor, Espurr, Inkay, Raichu of Alola, Wobbuffet, Medicham and Metagross will be available in raids, along with Lugia. Psychic-type Pokémon will also appear more often in the wild, but not Inkay. It looks like this will come exclusively for raids and field research activities. The Psychic Spectacular event will also mark the next step in the Misunderstood Mischief special research project that began today. It's a 16-step adventure, with each requirement locked behind certain tasks that are only available at specific times. If you make it to the end of the adventure, you'll be able to catch the Mythical Pokémon, Hoopa, which has caused quite a bit of trouble since Pokémon Go Fest 2021. The Psychic Spectacular event starts September 8 at 10am and runs from September 13 at 8pm in your local time zone.
