What is a Lead of a Thread?
🔹A shot video with a clear explanation of the thread term "Thread Lead". The lead is the linear distance the thread travels due to a full 360° rotation. 🔹 Lead Vs. Pitch: In the typical standard case of one start thread, the lead equals the pitch (L=P). In multi-start threads, the lead equals the pitch times and the number of starts. (L=n*P) 🔹 Lead Angle: The lead angle (φ) measures the inclination of a screw helix from a plane that is perpendicular to the screw’s axis. In more simple words, it is the proportion between the screw’s lead and its diameter.
