Lake Ohrid: Where Nature and History Converge – A UNESCO World Heritage Gem

Lake Ohrid, a pristine natural wonder nestled in the heart of Europe, is a testament to the harmonious coexistence of nature and culture. This remarkable mixed World Heritage property spans approximately 94,729 hectares and has been celebrated since 1979 for its extraordinary natural conservation values and, a year later, for its rich cultural heritage. Initially, the recognition applied to the portion of the lake within North Macedonia's borders. However, in 2019, the property was extended to encompass the entirety of Lake Ohrid, which also extends into Albania.
