Excel COUNTIF Cell Contains Part of Text - Partial Matches with Wildcards
Use the COUNTIF function to count cells that contain a bit of text. This video tutorial shows how to use wildcards with COUNTIF for partial matches. The formula looks for a word within a cell. If the single word occurs anywhere in that cell it is counted. Without the use of wildcard characters, COUNTIF will only match the entire cell content.
