Tornado Strikes Mahanoy City - Memorial Day 2024

A presumed tornado ripped through Mahanoy City, PA, just before 8 p.m. on May 27, 2024, as seen from this video provided to The Canary by Anthony Blackwell Jr. No injuries were reported as a result of the storm. Residents say they saw debris swirling through the air and heard the proverbial freight train sound as the tornado moved through the area. Several home lost their roofs but emergency officials say those homes had no occupants at the time of the storm.
