The type of the slab is defined by the aspect ratio Lx/Ly. Where Lx represents the longer span and Ly represents the shorter span of the slab. If the ratio of the longer span to the shorter span is greater than 2, i.e, if Lx/Ly is greater than 2, such a slab can be termed as a one-way slab.
