What the UK thinks of Brexit after five years
Itβs January 31, 2025, and today, the UK left the European Union five years ago. After formally leaving the EU, we entered a transition period and stayed in the single market and customs union for 11 months. A permanent trade agreement was reached on Christmas Eve, 2020, and was later ratified by the UK and EU, but customs checks were delayed during the Covid-19 pandemic.
