Docker for the Windows Developer by Rob Richardson || Lightup Conference

Description Docker is carefully tucked between virtualization, continuous deployment, and pure awesome. We'll look at the commands and ecosystem around building infrastructure as code, deploying a swarm, and sharing images on Docker Hub. We'll see how easy it is to create Linux and Windows docker images and run both single containers and a whole system. Come see why devs and ops love Docker. Notes and comments This no-slides talk helps users typically disenfranchised with containers to get started. We move a "legacy" (existing) web app and back-end service to containers by live-coding both Dockerfiles. Then we use Visual Studio to scaffold the Dockerfiles in a "greenfield" (new) project as we focus on a docker-compose file that allows the dev to quickly start all necessary pieces.
